ABOUT JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL
Junior Chamber Internatinal Malaysia (JCI Malaysia) is a National Organizatin affiliated to Junior Chamber Internatinal (JCI), a worldwide leadership development organizatin for young people aged 18 to 40 founded since 1915 in St Louis, US by Henry Giessenbier. Currently there are 60 JCI local organizatins
affiliated with JCI Malaysia, located in various states of Malaysia.The Junior Chamber movement was introduced to Malaya in 1954. Junior Chamber in Sarawak and Junior Chamber in Sabah were affiliated to Junior Chamber Internatinal in 1956 and in 1963 respectively. On 11th October 1975, Junior Chamber Malaysia was formed with the signing of a Merger Agreement between the three separate national organizations in Kuala Lumpur. A Protem Board of Directors under
the chairmanship of JCI Senator V T Nathan, Past President of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was founded.This Protem Board was appointed to look into the registration of the new organization to be known as Junior Chamber Malaysia. In 1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia obtained temporary registration from the
Registrar of Societis to operate. The 1st National Convention was held in 1976 itself in Kuala Lumpur. At this National Convention, JCI Senator George Chang was elected the First National President
Almost a century ago, Henry Giessenbier, Jr. decided to take responsibility for the progress and welfare of his community by helping tackle difficult problems around him. Together with 32 other young men, Giessenbier established the Young Men’s Progressive Civic Associatin, JCI’s first Local Organizatin, in St. Louis, USA in 1915 who dedicated themselves to bringing about community improvements and giving young people a construc-tive approach to civic problems.

It is important to monitor progress throughout the project to determine if the goals and intended impact are on track to be achieved.Finally, analyze data to measure the resulting positive change.By uniting with stakeholders from all sectors of society, projects are formulated to address the community’s core needs and their root causes. Collaborators outline a project plan including goals, actions and desired outcomes.Solutions target three integrated stages of community development that drive a community toward prosperity.Engaging community stakeholders during each step ensures everyone takes ownership of the need and solution, resulting in sustainable impact.
Take Action Once the need and root cause have been identified, active citizens take action by mobilizing resources, rallying
support and implementing the project plan. JCI ACTIVE CITIZEN FRAMEWORK
Sustainable impact is achieved through collective action of active citizens across local communities. Designed to address
all types of community issues, JCI members are guided by the JCI Active Citizen Framework, which provides a methodology
for conducting impactful projects. The process consists of assessing community needs, formulating sustainable solutions
and evaluating results to ensure sustainability.Community partners, business owners and government officials are engaged throughout each step of the process. The collaborative ownership of challenges and solutions by all community stakeholders is what produces sustainable impact.
