Community Information & Communication Network

Project Objectives:
Launching of “Community Information & Communication Network” to public to create awareness of Free “25MB per day” wireless hotspots covered in 32 Areas of Sibu. It is also providing a cloud based server call “ucstream” to Sibu local people and visitors to browse the information such as “Food Delicacy & Attraction Places to Go” as well as free publication of activities on their cloud for other Non-Governmental Organisation like Junior Chamber International. Thanks to the effort from Rimbunan Hijau Group, Optical Communication Engineering Sdn. Bhd, Howddy Hotspot Sdn. Bhd. and official media Sin Chew Daily News. We had invited our Minister of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia to witness and grace the launching ceremony.
We have also identified the needs of Free Wireless Hotspots by our local public especially students, foreign workers and medium low income earners who are less affording on mobile data plan or fixed broadband line (Streamyx or Unifi). Beside that, interrnet become essential due to the advancement of mobile technology and therefore Free Wireless Hotspots will be good alternative to most of us.

Recommendation for future:
We are going to organise more similar community projects in line with JCI Active Citizen Framework by identifying the root cause of the society problem or their real needs and wants. At the same time, we come out the solution by execution and evaluate the outcome in order to minimise problem.
